For those who are relatively new, I'm Eric (the youngin'). I've been on a break for... too long. But I'm finally back. School has been somewhat tough and it's always a struggle to keep up to date-- but I'll give it my best to post at least once every couple of days-- if not more...
The good news? I've still been looking and trying to keep up to date on everyone and I'm still taking pictures. Hope all is well with everyone and I'm glad to be back.

I'm really sorry Photo Life has taken a downfall within the past few months. My summer has been somewhat stressful.

For those who don't know, I'm going to the University Minnesota Duluth next year. So far through the summer I've been working, eating, and sleeping so I can make it all happen. Unfortunatelly, that's been the problem. I haven't been able to really enjoy myself too much which has really lead to me falling behind in the things I enjoy doing (i.e. photography). Luckilly, I have been taking pictures most of the summer, I went to Colorado to take pictures, and I should be back up and running come Labor Day and after I get settled in a bit.

Hope all is well across the board and I hope I'll be able to give everyone the credit and comments they deserve for their wonderful pictures.

Sorry for my absense.
Just one of those times where you hafta break, not even really by choice.
I guess I just put my personal priorities on the back burner... and it's definitely been hurting Not to even start on my "eat, sleep, work repeat" schedule.... I guess it's also one of those times in my life (just graduated and moving onto College) where it's supposed to be a little messed up.

I'll stop my caterwauling.

Hopefully I'll finally be able to play with my camera again sometime soon.
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on my fellow photobloggers, I'm sorry for leaving you guys, I'll try to be back more-- promise. I hope I haven't missed much, or at least that I'll be able to catch up.

I'm really sorry about not being able to post a whole lot. I've got a buncha crap and tests in school to take care of... much less start understanding the content. I guess it just comes down to what I need to get done first.

Anyway, I do have some shots from my FZ-30, but I only have a 32MB memory card! I get about 7 shots with it on the full 8MP... so I knocked it down to about 6MP. Let's see if I can't post a few more come this weekend.

P.S. there WAS a tied with this post, but it looks like something's messed up and I don't have the time to fix it at the moment. Maybe it'll show up later?

Happy Birthday to me! I am now offically leagal ;-)

I see a new camera in my future... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30... I kinnda accidently found it before my birthday... woops.

Well my mom said "Well you're getting your birthday and graduation gift together since they(tripod and camera) kinnda go together. " So. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding it or maybe switching it for another? I don't really have any experiences with Panasonic, but from what I saw on the reviews and stats, it seems really nice and that it fits what I'd need.

Anyway, to the shot. Took this early this year. I love the snow, even if shot this a little cynic/depressing.

I went out to this Greek Restaurant tonight, and apparently it was the Greek Easter, so they gave us eggs. Then they explained it...

Each player holds an egg, and one taps her/his egg against the other player's egg. The goal: crack the opponent's egg. Then we took the winners of the three 'matches' and went up against eachoter. Whoever successfully cracks the eggs of the other players is declared the winner and, it is said, will have good luck during the year.

I won, and I got to keep an egg with way cooler dye than any other I've seen. I guess that means my luck is gonna start to turn around--Despite me not being Greek or really religious at all. Either way, that's defiantely a good thing for me.

I had some pretty big issues with this in post process. Since he has very shallowly engraved facial characteristics (i.e. eyes, hair, smile), it was hard bringing them out with the sephia tone. So it was tough... but here's what I got, and I still like it.

I wasn't really even planning on posting any Peanuts pictures... especially not this one. I just too sappy though. I watched a whole movie with my dog (45 pounds maybe?) on my lap in my chair, and she never does that. Then I stumbled across this picture, and my heart just melts at that kinnda stuff; "So Sen-sa-tive!"

Health update, I'm at about 75% now, which is much better than the days past. I'm so close to getting around to blogs again but I still gotta play catch-up on everything else. I'm so anxious for some killer shots...

I can't remember the number, but one of my teachers once told me "National Geographic photographers take upward of one thousand pictures. Usually, they get three or four pictures from their trips."

Just some advice I think most every photographer should heed to-- mostly myself :-P

Queen with Paul Rodgers about two weeks ago. It was defiantely a nice show, but not the same without Freddy Mercury. They did a nice cameo-memento cross by playing footage of him playing bohemian rhapsody which was really cool I thought--because if you know anything about Queen, nobody but Mercury could even start to do the song justice.

Looks like I was comming back tuesday, not sunday. I guess I was in a bit of a rush on my last post and wasn't paying a whole lot of attention.

Turns out I didn't manage to get a shot of anything in Idaho, I was too busy on the slopes. It was either A. Bring my camera and take it really easy down the runs, or B. Go all out and leave the camera.

As it turns out, blizzard-like conditions aren't very good for cameras anyway.

What I get from this picture: Remember to look both ways; yes that was metaphorical.

Tomorrow is another day... unlike today. Even though roads were torn to hell this morning, and I got stuck getting in and out of my driveway four times, the snow was awfully beautiful and soothing today. (Not to mention it fueled a two hour photo escapade.)

As you know, I'm not a big portrait person. Maybe it's that I'm not always confident in how I capture them. Hopefully I can start out slow and move upward from there- starting with my brother at the ski hill... "binding in" since he's a snowboarder. Shadowplay.

Double feature. No reason, just felt like a little spontanuity.

If you haven't noticed, I've decided to tweak my layout a little. Recently I've had some thought about actually getting a hosting site, and move on a little from blogger. I don't really plan on it anytime in the near future, I just want more control over my settings and such. Hence reasoning to switch/fix a couple things (back to monthly archive, colors here and there etc.) Freshening up the place a little never hurt.

Backstory...
My uncle passed away in '97 when he was around 30.
He always had the attitude "You had a crappy year, I got you something nice."
So this Crystal ornament is from him to my Mom. He also had no immediate family, so his ornaments were divied through the extended family. We got the little sled with his name on it, so he can always be with the families on Christmas... watching over us. Lame, yes. Sappy? Horribly so. Heartwarming? Definately.

"Back 'n' Black"
For everyone who has been checking and staying with the site, thank you, I needed to take some time off (by force, some catch-up time).

It feels great to be back. Finally, after about five hours of touching up the site, uploading pictures, editing pictures- I'm back. New camera, more motivation, rock 'n' roll guys.

For those who are interested in why I went AWOL, I'll try and sum it up.

For everyone who has been checking and staying with the site, thank you again. I need all the support I can get. Around August, my camera happened to take a fall onto the floor, putting it out of commission. Since then, I've had some issues focusing, finding out I got a little sand in the case, and the fact that the case was kinnda... cracked and broken.

I also have had a lot going on lately. Trying to stay up with running, music, friends/relationships, work the full nine yards. If you remember, I've also had some issues with daily updates. I started out strong, and then slowly fell behind. Since then I've realized, I can keep up with EVERYTHING, so I've readusted and life is better. As far as updates go, they should be at least once a week- most likely more.

So, a new camera has been bought, Fuji F10. It's definately tons of fun (as is any new toy). With the F10, I have a much wider range of shots and much more fun to say the least. So I'm back for good. I have about 70 shots ready to go, so I should be around for a while.
